Custom Strains

There is an additional fee for handling and propagation of your target strain for an injection order. This covers expanding your strain and maintaining it until the project is finished. We would need your target strains about 4 weeks prior to the injection date to expand it.

FAQs

Send us around 6 vials, best with larvae that are not too old. We will use the adults from these vials for another round of expansion to get enough flies for one injection cage.

Custom strains are mostly not well characterized with respect to their injection behavior. Integration frequencies and survival rates after injection of such strains are mostly unknown.

We only offer a free re-injection of custom strains, if you have data on integration frequencies and the strength of the marker expression and can confirm that the plasmid is ok and should not cause lethality in a transgenic situation.

If your strain is not characterized regarding injections, we strongly recommend to, precautiously, inject higher numbers in the first attempt to increase the likelihood of a positive result.
